Sign up now: Poetry in the Palm of Your Hand

UPDATE: rescheduled for January 28, 2023! New link to come.

Looking for a one-day poetry class with lots of time for actually writing? Sign up for my WritespaceHouston workshop Writing Short: Poetry in the Palm of Your Hand! This generative workshop meets on Saturday, January 28 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Central. Poetry doesn’t need to be long to be profound or funny or beautiful. Discover the joys of writing short poems in this one-day workshop. We’ll talk about using limited forms like haiku to help us be more creative, and how to create an entire scene or mood in just one short stanza. We’ll find inspiration in everyday objects, tell stories in short works, and explore rhyme, meter, and free verse. Writers of all levels are welcome.

Join me at Writespace for Creating the Poetry Chapbook

This November and December, I’ll be teaching a weekly class for Writespace Houston on creating a chapbook! Chapbooks are short collections of poems, often focused around a theme. You can be new to writing poetry or an experienced writer–all are welcome! We’ll do a lot of writing in class and discuss selecting poems for a chapbook, organizing them, and paths to publication. Check out the full details on Eventbrite here.

My own chapbook Making Mythology is available here.
